Natural Gas Grills - Product Reviews
Gas-fueled grills typically use propane or natural gas as their fuel source. We will focus on natural gas grills.
These grills are utilizing gas-flame either cooking food directly or
heating the grilling elements which radiate the heat necessary to cook food.
Natural gas grills are available
in sizes ranging from small, single steak grills up to large, industrial sized
restaurant grills which are able to cook enough meat and/or fish to feed a
hundred or more people. Gas grills are designed for either propan or natural
gas, but it is possible to convert a grill from one gas source to another.
Most
natural gas grills follow the cart
grill design concept: the grill unit is attached to a wheeled frame that also
holds the fuel tank. The wheeled frame may also have side tables as well as
other features.
Currently, we can see a trend from manufacturers of
natural gas grills
to add infrared radiant burners to the back of the grill enclosure. These
radiant infrared burners provide a consistent heat and are targeted for use with a horizontal rotisserie. A food item, such as a beef
roast, a chicken, a pork loin roast etc. is placed on a metal skewer that is
rotated by an electric engine.
Another type of
natural gas grills
gaining popularity is called a flattop grill. On flattop grills foods are cooked
on a griddlelike surface without being exposed to an open flame. This is an
emerging healthy trend in the outdoor grilling market.
A small "smoker box" of metal containing wood chips
may also be used on a gas grill to give a more specific smoky flavor to the
grilled foods.
I'm going to take a closer look at three models of
natural gas grills:
Weber 4511001 Spirit E-210 Natural Gas Grill, Black
The box is large and it's weight is heavy but I was
able to assemble it within an hour. This gas grill is robust and solid unlike
those cheaper models with multi-burners. This is a durable model that will
last for many years. It has an even and consistent heat and can cook much,
even more than the description implies.
Broil King Model 94628 Crown 20 Natural Gas 44,000
BTU Gas Grill
This natural gas grill is one of the best - if not
the best - I've ever seen. Here is why:
- The grilling surface is immense, no space is wasted
here.
- The upper rack is twice the cooking size.
- This grill has a thermometer as well as an ignitor
that works.
- The side shelves of the grill are made of very
long-standing material, and they are easy to clean. The side shelves also contain
drink *beer holders* that are placed as far from the grilling surface that the
brew will keep cool.
- The instruction manaul that is delivered with the
grill is really valuable, containing an index, instructions for care, images,
ideas on how to use it more effectively, a colored recipe manual and much more
valuable stuff. It's obviously written by people that genuinely want you to
enjoy your grill!
- There's really not much assembly work to do.
- This grill has a good price.
- I purchased it online on amazon and the shipping
was fast.
Ducane 31732101 Affinity 3100 Natural Gas Grill,
Black
This Natural gas BBQ grill is delivered as promised;
prompt and fast by an effective and professional delivery crew. I had some
problems assembling it , but it didn't take me more than an hour though. If
you pay close attention to all the parts, and follow the step-by-step assembly
description carefully, you can't go wrong.
Upon turning the grill on, the BBQ started to work
instantly, and kept working flawlessly. Heat distribution and evenness are
both great.
This is also one of the best gas grills I ever seen, even better than natural
Gas BBQ grills that are 3 times more expensive. This grill is definately worth
it's price.
